Research Themes

Jurisprudence (Philosophy of Law)

Jurisprudence is the study of what law is, and I am particularly interested in the relationship between law and logic, and between law and justice. Logic is the common language of the science, but since law is normative, I try to understand law in terms of 'deonic logic' ('logic of obligation'), a language in which norms can be expressed. Justice has also been considered, since Aristotle, to be closely related to 'equality'. I am also interested in the interpretation of that equality. I welcome anyone who wants to understand the law in terms of logic and justice (equality).
