Research Themes

Tense and aspect in French

I represent the significance and usage of verb conjugations in French with metalanguage rather than a natural language. I also examine whether there is a universal entity common to every significance and usage that can be extracted from one conjugation.

Fonction of French Connectors

I describe temporal relationships that can be interpreted from verb conjugations represented in principal and subordinate clauses in complex sentences that specifically include temporal conjunctions. I apply metalanguage that is not based on natural language as a method for description. I examine whether universality or basic form can be extracted from relational patterns that humans can recognize by way of temporal and aspect relations that can be represented. I thereby investigate whether representation of the meaning of each conjunction is possible.
