Research Themes
Research of Japanese modern literature
I am studying the works of Tatsuo Hori, Sei Ito, Takehiko Fukunaga, Kunio Tsuji, Yoshie Hotta, and others who were inspired by foreign literature and tried to create true fiction in the Showa period. I consider what can be narrated through the system of fiction and why fiction is needed. Especially in recent years, I have been concerned with the problems of individuals who suffer from painful memories ( collective disasters such as war and disaster or personal experiences of disease, damage or loss) depicted by literature, and have been researching how literary texts can describe and convey those unspeakable matters.I also continue to study Ito's draft and analyze genetically the representation of ego and memory.
