Research Themes

T cell differentiation in Immune Abnormality Disorders

T cell differentiation in Immune Abnormality Disorders Molecular pathogenesis of primary immunodeficiency involved in T cell development is the major target of our research. Above all, followings are our current interest.
1) RAG1/RAG2 mutations and impaired T cell development.
2) Immunological reconstitution after stem cell transplantation.
3) Molecular and clinical impact of second site mutations in primary immunodeficiency diseases.

Oxidative Stress and Immune Response

Oxidative Stress and Immune Response Major goal of the research is to disclose the molecular pathogenic mechanism of various inflammatory/febrile illnesses. Moreover, we intend to establish novel approach to control inflammatory pathway of innate immunity.

1) HO-1 mediated regulation of inflammation.
2) Cytokine profiling and characterization of inflammatory illnesses.
3) Pathogenesis of autoinflammatory diseases and establishment of novel diagnostic strategies.

Pathogenic Mechanism of Abnormal Expansim of EBV-Infected Cells

Pathogenic Mechanism of Abnormal Expansim of EBV-Infected Cells EBV infection typically occurs as common infectious mononucleosis and in the case of normal immune capacity in the individual, remits and becomes a latent infection. In some cases, it transmits to lymphoid cells other than B cells, causing the infected cells to clonally expand, and by means such as excess production of cytokine, demonstrates various pathologies including hemophagocytic syndrome. I clarify the essence of these diseases and develop guidelines for early diagnosis and treatment.
(1) Analysis of various pathologies by EBV ectopic infention and investigation of the molecular mechanism of infected cell expansion.
(2) Investigation of molecular mechanism and clinical significance of CD5 expression reduction of infected CD8+T cells in EBV-HLH.
